How To Play ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’

Hi all! Here we have a guitar lesson video demonstrating how to play the main parts from this classic song – ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ by Bill Withers. I would pitch this song at a high end beginner as it involves some tricker plectrum work (strumming single notes) and some slightly more advanced 7th chord open shapes.

For those of you who will pick this up reasonably quickly, and like a little sing song – Here are the lyrics to sing over the track:

‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ Lyrics

Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
It’s not warm when she’s away.
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And she’s always gone too long
Anytime she goes away.

Wonder this time where she’s gone
Wonder if she’s gone to stay
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And this house just ain’t no home
Anytime she goes away.

And I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know,
Hey, I oughtta leave young thing alone
But ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone

Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
Only darkness every day.
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And this house just ain’t no home
Anytime she goes away.
Anytime she goes away.
Anytime she goes away.
Anytime she goes away.

Anyway! Hope you enjoy it and best of luck 🙂
