‘My Girl’ – Free Guitar Lesson

WHAT’S INVOLVED IN THE LESSON

Is this the most memorable guitar riff of all time? Wouldn’t you love to be able to play it?! Well, here we go! This video lesson takes you through the main guitar part from the classic motown hit – ‘My Girl’. It is almost unbelievable to think that this riff is literally just running up the C major pentatonic scale with a cool rhythm! This backs up what we have always said at BGA, a good riff is around 90% rhythm, 10% note choice!

DIFFICULTY LEVEL

I would say that this is an intermediate lesson, but that is only because it features pentatonic shape 2 and 5. If you take the scale names out of the equation, then this is a great beginners tune to test you finger movement and speed! It’s a great song to impress friends and family with, so get cracking!
